Arrival dates now appear on product pages and at checkout
Estimated arrival dates can now be shown on product pages and next to the shipping methods at checkout, so shoppers see when an item will arrive before they order. The dates are worked out per destination, so an order going somewhere remote shows a later estimate.
How the date is worked out can differ by product. In the console you define product classes — matched on product type, tag, collection or a metafield — and each class chooses its own basis: the date the allocation implies, a number of days from today, or a release date registered against the product. A class can show a calendar date (16 September) or a part of the month (mid-September), so a pre-order or a made-to-order piece no longer inherits the lead time of a stock item. When an order holds several products, the latest date is the one shown.
The shipping methods and rates shown at checkout come from the same settings. You can set the method name, the rate, the subtotal that makes shipping free and the prefectures a rate applies to, and give orders shipped from a store a method name of their own. The arrival date can sit under the method name or become the method name itself.
